Disappointing news but I kind was expecting this with the recent Rockstar employee problems. Thoughts?

Yeah, disappointing, but not particularly surprising. If the game was really going to be finished in 6 months they'd already be advertising it a lot more than they are. 6 months isn't a lot of time, you're talking major bug fixes, polishing, legal stuff (like verifying the names of vehicles and weapons don't breach any copyrights), maybe finalising the soundtrack and optimising the game engine. If they don't think 6 months is long enough to do all of that, they're a lot further behind than we thought.

With the sacking of senior devs, it's going to push things even further back. I imagine a lot of them were already 'crunching' to meet the May 26th deadline, so being told you need to do it for another 6 months on top of that is soul destroying.

The game will surely be perfect when it finally launches, but I think they severely underestimated how far away it was from completion when the 2nd trailer came out with a 'final' release date.

Think it was always to be expected.  Perhaps they shouldn't have spent so many years plugging shark cards 🤐

Anyway, it is frustrating but given the lack of updates we get (in stark contrast to previous GTAs), I think it was obvious 'something was up'.

I think Rockstar, like other developers in fairness, have lost their way a little and judging by my own experience, there's a bit of a lull in the gaming industry as a whole.
