Fall From Grace
Red Harlow and Buffalo Soldier have Governor Griffon cornered on the roof of his mansion, where he makes his final stand.
Chapter 27
"Governor Griffon has probably never even seen the roof of his precious mansion before. Ironically, it might be the last thing he ever sees."
Red and Buffalo have made their way to the roof of Governor Griffon's mansion. As they enter, they encounter the Governor, surrounded by guards.
"You got no chance son, best you just turn around and keep on going. Ain't no shame in cheating death twice" says Griffon as he slowly backs away leaving his guards to deal with things.
"I've got some nitro. I found there in the Governor's office, you lay down some fire and I'll take that gate right down" suggests Buffalo.
You must successfully pass at least 3 of these 4 targets.
- Accuracy: 60%
- Damage Taken: 0%
- Time: 2:00
- Best Combo: $200
Once you're in control of Red, you need to take down the three enemies on the upper rooftop. They'll duck down behind cover and pop up, but they're only regular soldiers so it doesn't take too many shots to put them down. Stand on top of the triangular window on the roof for a better angle.
As soon as they're all down, Buffalo Soldier will run over to the small metal gate which leads to the upper roof.
Buffalo works on unscrewing the gate to gain access to the upper roof, but Governor Griffon appears on the other side with some lit Dyamite and places it on the other side of the metal gate.
The explosion destroys the wall and knocks the heavy metal gate on top of Buffalo Soldier, trapping him. Red tries in vain to free him but isn't able to lift it off.
"Best way to help me is to put a bullet in that man's brain" demands Buffalo as he lies being crushed by the large lump of metal.
"Get going, Bounty Hunter!" says Buffalo as Red climbs up to the higher rooftop.
You're now in a boss fight with Governor Griffon. His health bar is at the top right of the screen and it's substantial.
Run up the sloped rooftop to the right of where you start which will give you a good angle on Griffon. He's behind another of those triangular glass windows on the roof and he'll roll around a lot to avoid your gunfire, but he doesn't offer too much back in the way of attacks, although two soldiers will usually appear alongside him who can be a bit of a distraction.
If you get close to him he'll knock you down, but there's not really much reason to leave the sloped rooftop as it gives you good cover and allows you to get shots off at him. Griffon isn't the smartest boss in the game and sometimes he'll just stand still, shooting at you and leaving himself open to repeated headshots.
He's actually not particularly difficult and you shouldn't have too many problems getting his health down, just aim for headshots. If you want to rush him, use Deadeye and shoot him when he's not rolling around to ensure he feels the full force.
Once you get his health down to around 40%, a cutscene will kick in.
Red and Griffon face off on a burning rooftop.
"I always regretted what happened back on your daddy's farm, Red" says Griffon as he approaches.
"I should have been there, to make sure you joined them".
"But lucky for me, I get a second chance" he says as the two men get into duelling position.
You're now in a duel with Governor Griffon.
As you might expect, this is probably the toughest duel in the game. If Griffon manages to get a shot off and hit you, it'll probably result in your death, however there's a checkpoint right before the duel meaning you don't need to replay the earlier section of the level again. If you're playing on Bounty Hunter mode with the intention of unlocking the Invincibility cheat, you'll need to complete the entire level in a single run.
My advice for the duels is the same since the Battle Royale - quickness and quality is more important than quantity.
You need to paint at least 3 red targets on Griffon, ideally at least 2 "critical" red targets, and try to get one in the head.
You won't have very long to line them up, and you certainly won't have time to paint all 6 targets on him, so try to get 3 criticals as quickly as you can then press R2 to end the slow-mo or spam the R1 button to paint the remainder of your targets so you can get to shooting.
As long as you painted some good targets on him and got your shots off before he does, you should be able to take him out. Being quick is the key here. Don't spend ages waiting for a perfect critical headshot, just try to paint him with as many red targets as you can as quickly as you can, then press R2 to fire off the shots before he does.
Once you get the technique down, you'll fill him full of lead and he'll land in a heap on the roof of his mansion.
In front of the mansion, Sheriff Bartlett gives Griffon's body a good kick to make sure he's dead.
"Never did like him much" he tells Red as Buffalo Soldier and Annie Stoakes arrive, arm in arm.
"Jack?" asks Annie, but no one has seen him.
"Well Red, I'm not saying Griffon didn't deserve it, but he was the Governor. I reckon the army will be sniffing around here and... Well, I'd hate to see you hang after all you've done" explains Sheriff Bartlett who is holding a large bag of gold.
"$5000 in gold sound like a fair bounty?" asks the Sheriff.
Red pulls out his revolver and hands it to Buffalo Soldier, then crouches down and examines Griffon's body to recover his unique Scorpion Revolver before spinning it on his finger and storing it in his holster.
As Red begins to walk away, he looks at the bag of money in Sheriff Bartlett's hand and tells him "Give it to them", motioning towards Annie and Buffalo.
"It was never about the money"

THE END
Congratulations, you completed the main story of Red Dead Revolver!
The credits will roll, then you'll be informed about the new features you've unlocked.
The following rewards are unlocked after pressing continue after the mission.
After completing this mission (and therefore the story) for the first time on Normal, you're informed that "Hard Mode" and "Bounty Hunter Mode" have been unlocked. You'll unlock the Peashooter trophy.
After completing the story on Hard Mode, you're informed "Very Hard Mode" and "Red Wood Revolver Mode" have been unlocked. You'll then unlock the Six Shooter trophy.
After completing the story on Very Hard Mode, nothing further is unlocked, although you'll unlock the Sharp Shooter trophy.
After completing the story, you'll be able to replay each mission in "Bounty Hunter Mode" which includes an optional objective to complete. Beating the mission and completing the objective will provide a reward.
- Objective
- Complete the level in 1 minute!
- Reward
- Cheat Unlocked: "Invincibility" - The player's health will not decrease no matter how many times they are hit, meaning they can't die. Some missions can still be failed if their AI companions take too much damage however.
Tips
This should be the first Bounty Hunter challenge you attempt, as the reward of Invincibility is insanely useful for the rest of the game.
Ensure you select the Scorpion as your weapon at the start of the mission. When it starts, quickly take out the 3 or 4 enemies on the upper rooftop.
After the cutscene, run straight towards Griffon, but stay on the other side of the triangular glass window and blast away, shooting him in the face. If you have Deadeye, use it. Try to shoot him in the head as much as you can. If he gets too close to you, he'll knock you down which will waste a bit of time, but it can sometimes give you a chance to shoot him from close range.
It shouldn't actually take too many shots to get his health all of the way down so you should be able to do this with a good 20 seconds or so remaining.
You'll then need to defeat him in the duel which is the hardest part of the level. If he shoots you, you'll probably die, but you've already beaten him at least once so you should know what to expect.
Personally, I skip the cutscenes with X and hold down on the right analog stick, then as soon as you see the duel gameplay begin, immediately push the right analog stick forward and you should be aiming your gun at him before he has a chance to aim at you. Then try to get 2-3 critical hits, including at least 1 headshot. Once you do, either quickly fire off a load of shots so you hit the 6 targets, or press R2 to end the slow motion sequence early to ensure you fire off the shots as quickly as you can.
If you fail the duel, you'll need to do everything again, but thankfully it's all possible in under a minute so it won't take long.
Surprisingly easy for one of the best cheat unlocks!
All Bounty Hunter challenges are much easier if you unlock and enable the "Invincibility", "Infinite Deadeye" and "Golden Gun" cheats. For more info, read about Cheats in Red Dead Revolver.
